Rigel

Overview
Rigel
is a custom-built enterprise application developed for Orion Worldwide LLC, a barter agency within IPG Mediabrands. The platform supports the full lifecycle of media barter transactions--from contract initiation in Salesforce to final media buying data ingestion from MediaOcean. Designed to centralize and streamline operations, Rigel empowers Orion to manage barter media deals with precision, compliance, and efficiency.

My Role
Initially, Orion attempted to build the application independently to reduce costs. I was brought in by my manager to assist them in writing proper user stories. I guided their team on how to construct a well-formed story using a structured format that included:
  • User Story Statement
  • Gherkin Scenarios
  • Additional Acceptance Criteria
Shortly afterward, Orion officially contracted our IT team to lead the build, partnering with an external development team based in Chicago. I was tasked with reviewing all existing user stories to assess project readiness. Upon review, I called for a development pause, identifying major gaps in the UI documentation and user flow clarity.

Key Contributions🧠 Rebuilt Product Vision
  • Conducted a comprehensive audit of user stories and UI materials.
  • Determined that the visual and functional documentation provided by the external team was fragmented and not aligned with Orion's operational needs.
  • Paused development to prevent wasted engineering cycles and misaligned deliverables.

🎯
Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Engaged directly with stakeholders across both Client and Media Provider teams to define end-to-end requirements.
  • Facilitated working sessions to understand pain points, regulatory requirements, and cross-system integrations.

🛠️
UX/UI Design in Axure
  • Designed interactive, high-fidelity wireframes using Axure, which included:
    • Media contract intake from Salesforce
    • Multi-step approval workflows
    • Integration touchpoints with MediaOcean
    • Barter-specific financial tracking and reporting
  • Delivered a clickable prototype to align stakeholders and provide developers with a clear product blueprint.

Business Impact
  • Enabled a centralized, traceable workflow for media barter deals.
  • Reduced email-based and manual tracking errors between sales, media, and finance.
  • Positioned Orion to scale barter volume with fewer operational bottlenecks and stronger compliance oversight.

Technology Ecosystem
  • CRM Integration: Salesforce
  • Financial/Media Data Sync: MediaOcean
  • Design & Prototyping: Axure RP
  • Agile Collaboration: Jira for stories, Confluence for documentation

The Axure prototype demonstrates the full end-to-end user journey of Rigel--from login and contract intake to media approval workflows and integration with systems like Salesforce and MediaOcean. Designed to align cross-functional stakeholders and guide development, the prototype serves as both a requirements validation tool and a developer handoff reference.
